Who cares about quad-core?

It can be easy with technology to get lost in feeds and speeds, or to ask oneself just what the latest addition of megahertz to a processor mean in the real world. Put simply – quad-core is great, but really – who cares if their processor has one core, or two, or four?
“It’s like eight processors of pur love”, said Jason Pohl, head designer or Orange County Chopper. “This is the first time I’ve had a workstation that can keep up with me. There’s no more waiting for my computer, it’s more an extension of my left and right arms.’
The energetic designer came to the vendor’s attention after an employee watched an episode of OCC’s TV show, American Chopper, which featured the energetic designer laying the smackdown on his previous workstation for being too slow and crashy. Now, Pohl reports, he’s working in Photoshop and Solidworks, while Outlook and his MP3 player software run in the background, and he surfs on YouTube and his client’s Web sites in his Web browser.
“I have more time to take on more clients, have more time to work on bike lines, and I have more time to build our dealership network,” Pohl said. Clearly his new workstation will not be getting the boots put to it anytime soon.
